Just when we think some animal species are disappearing, they find a new one. The tube-nosed fruit bat was discovered in the remote mountains of Papua New Guinea. This is not movie special effects – it’s real!
Let me just say that if this thing ever came flying at me, I would immediately check myself in to the nearest neuropsychiatric institute to see if they could hook me up to some electrodes that would permanently remove this hideous bat face from my memory. If that didn’t succeed, I would never recover and just live at the asylum, with my nightmares, for the rest of my life. Can you imagine?
Every once in a while a bat get into the house and fly all over the place!
It’s not fun lol.
Really girls….How can you resist those dreamy brown eyes, that soft fur, that inquisitive nose? And what a beautiful stole it would make for that strapless evening gown!
Well this is going to spoil our vacation to Papua New Guinea!! 🙂
“I hope the nightmares I used to have about Gremlins don’t surface !!” 🙁

OMG! It’s even scarier looking than Charlie Sheen!!!!!
Eewww Jenny, that’s scary looking and I really don’t want to think about one coming towards me. Just looking at the photo here gives me goose bumps. It looks so scary and looks dangerous to me, but they say fruit bats are harmless. Dangerous or not, I would be long gone to find out because I would be running my rear off leaving it behind me…lol…
I googled this bat and they are actually very useful to the environment by the diet they have. They eat the fruit and digest the seeds out of their body for new plants to grow. How cool is that? Pretty smart of them. Good thing, they will never go hungry. After reading about them they don’t seem as scary, but I still wouldn’t want to get close to one…
