My Stepmother, Roula, has passed (1929-2022)

She was my father’s second wife and a true mother to me for over 65 years. Here she is, Roula Frangos, when she first met my father in 1955. You can see why he fell in love with her. She was beautiful inside and out. Roula was always kind to me, even when I was not so kind to her, dealing with my parents’ divorce and this new Greek woman in our lives. But I grew to love her and she loved me back, always supporting me in my dreams when no one else did. She celebrated my successes and picked me up whenever I failed.

When I finally made it, she used to carry my picture in her wallet so every time she opened it, someone would see it and say, “OMG, is that your daughter?” She was so proud of me and I loved her so much. Roula, I will miss you forever. ❤️ Rest In Peace.

I recall many times in my teens going to eat at Viktor and Roulas restaurant in Las Vegas. And the laughs and fun we always had… (my parents were older and some of their best friends were good friends of Viktor and Rula) I miss them! I will always miss her laugh. My mom and I speak often and fondly about our times we spent with them. I do know she was so proud of you!

Jeany I’m so sorry for your lost. We knew her in Las Vegas she was a wonderful person and a good friend I would help her with her parties and she would want to pay me but I would say we are friends and they don’t charge and she ended up giving me her china cabinet and table and I wanted to pay her and she told me , friends don’t charge! We lost contact after we moved and she moved after victor died.

    Hello Jenny,
So sorry for your loss. I just watched the episode Date with Roula on YTube and wondered how your elegant stepmom was doing. It is a special person who steps into the shoes of a mother, loves and treats that child as her own and excels at the task. May she rest in eternal Peace and thank you Jenny for all the great laughs and memories back in the day!

Hi Jen, sorry to hear about Roula, I always found her to be very upbeat
and warm towards everyone she was around. She was so very proud of her girls. Hope you are doing well and staying healthy. Remembering all the good times we had in London.
    All the best

I am sorry to hear about your stepmom, but I am glad that you had her. I just felt inspired to check in on you today. I had a big crush on you when I was young and watching your talk show as much as I could, and I watched it a lot. I was always proud that you were Canadian from a city only a few hours from where I lived. However, it was just today that I found out that you were from Bethlehem! Being a Christian, I found that exciting. I was saddened to learn of your turbulent childhood with your birth mother and running away from home twice. I also had a mother who seemed to have something against me during both my childhood and adulthood. I read that you grew up in a strict Catholic Christian home. I hope with all my heart that you have God in your life or at least that you are actively keeping your heart open to God. We only get the time that we have in this life to give ourselves to God and do His will, and it is hard to believe that we are both elders now.

Dear Jenny, so sorry for the loss of your “bonus mom.” You shared such a loving tribute to her. My youngest daughter and I were able to spend several days exploring some of the Greek islands last May. Such a beautiful country, culture, and people. Love and prayers to you and your family from Olympia, WA.
