This time, he was in the back yard and stayed for several hours.
A small crowd gathered between all of us, the pool guy, gardeners – we all stopped working to watch.
We gave him some bird food and he ate ALL of it.
He drank some rainwater off the patio, then sauntered away, up the hill. I’ll be ready with snacks tomorrow.
A friend just sent an “in-flight” photo she found online.
I’m looking for name suggestions…
Something exotic…
*He is a male.
Sir Pheasant Under Glass
He is striking and so not native to there. More like a Canadian Thanksgiving dinner (Kidding) I would call him Apollo, for lots of reasons. Those colours, what a great jigsaw puzzle he would make!
The picture Jenny took above would be a pretty difficult jigsaw puzzle for sure 🙂
Jenny, I think he is going to stick around. He gets feed, so why not…lol…
He looks like an Angelo for some reason, but I like the name you posted 🙂
Wow! such a beautiful bird in flight too. Look at that wing spread. Huge!
You really take great photos and youhr photo here is my favorite photo so far. It would look better framed 😉
Take care,
Rhonda
Rhonda, you really should look up a Golden pheasant. They are BEAUTIFUL! This is coming from someone who gets VERY uncomfortable around large birds, even. My father always had (at least one), couple. I’ll ask my Mother if he still has some and if so, I’ll find a way to get Jenny and everyone a picture of them, to post. Don’t forget; Black pheasants are neat and interesting, themselves.

Hey Tiffie, I actually went looking at the different pheasants and all of them are beautiful. I have to say the ring necked one is my favorite one because of the different colors and detailed. It looks like someone painted him some feathers 😆
Hey! maybe that is why he seems like an Angelo…
I like the name Jenny gave him…
Take care,
Rhonda
His colors are so beautiful and he’s flamboyant…
My choice is Lil Liberace..
I like… Baron Von Jonesenheimer.
That’s perfect!

Monte Cristo! lol 😉
May I suggest, Mayor Leopold of Wellington?

Ok….how you need to name the little man! It sounds like he is going to be a regular.
Possibly something that would remind us of an English aristocrat from the 1800’s because, he looks like he would have a strong accent while donning a monical. HAHA!
