Driving to Vegas in August… what was I thinking? It was 110 degrees! Going to hell doesn’t scare me now. We went for three days and I guess I’m not a very good traveller. It took me more days to pack than we spent in Vegas. I had to bring sandwiches & drinks for the road, 110 proof sunblock, my own sheets, my teapot, disinfectant wipes, hard boiled eggs, phone chargers, my skincare products… I forgot my face scrub but that’s okay – I just rubbed my face with the hotel washcloth. When we hit the casino, I couldn’t breathe. I said to Denis, “This must be a smokers’ convention.” Or else people who quit years ago were so stressed about losing money, they started smoking again. I tried to have fun but it seems like I enjoyed Vegas more when I was younger. The clubs are all so loud. Where I enjoyed the music most on this trip, was in the elevator.
They need more Cirque du Soleil shows in Vegas. Com’on! There’s too many! They’re not even exciting any more. With titles like “O” and “KA” I should send them my idea: “BLAH” – acrobatics based on the history of how paint dries. Even my gambling was a bust. I lost my twenty dollars at blackjack in less than a minute. They should call it Whackjack: as soon as you start putting money on the table, they whack you with a big stick.
I’m not to good with crowds and loudness. I’ve never been to Vegas. I would like to go someday, but I have other places I would like to see first. I’ve always wanted to go to Niagara Falls and someday I will. I’m sorry your trip wasn’t great, but look at all the good times you’ve had there. Time changes and Vegas is what it is. It’s not bad. I would visit there. When on vacation though I like quite time for relaxing. I vacation to get away to relax and enjoy the the things I rarely get to see. I need that time away. I think everyone craves it every now and then…
Take care everyone 🙂
I agree, Jenny. Try Laughlin next time. No crowds and the river is always beautiful!
I hear you my sista!! A couple years back me and some friends went to a brand new Sands Casino around here and I thought I was gonna die with all the smoke! 😉 Sorry you didn’t enjoy yourselves too much. You probably got to see Roula though and that must have been good.
Yay!!! It’s almost Friday!!! 🙂 🙂

I totally agree about Vegas…maybe I am too old. We have casinos in Kansas City so I just leave my money for our school districts when I get the urge.
You and my husband could win a packing contest not me I am low maintence!
Kathy
I understand about the heat, Jenny! It has been over 100 here for many, many days in a row!!!! (Texas) 😛
Sorry your gambling was a bust! 🙁
I can relate to you, we live in Phoenix, AZ and it has been a humid summer which just adds to our already hot temps, yuck hate it. I know Vegas is closer to you, but Reno is always fun and much less noise…lol. My wife and I used to go there all the time when we lived in Northern California, and we loved it. Nice group of ages from young to older and everything is within walking distance, and you can’t beat the weather in Reno.
I love Reno. I worked there a whole summer once as a drummer with my band at the Mapes. I also opened there as a comic at Harrah’s for Glen Campbell, Eddie Arnold, & Andy Williams. I even rafted down the Truckee River.
